An engagement programme of its own
Specify the format: a family dinner, an introduction between families or a gathering with friends. Include a wedding date only if the couple wishes; an engagement invitation does not itself confirm attendance at the later wedding.

No. The engagement gathering date is enough. If the wedding is still being planned, do not put a tentative date into wording being approved.
