Start with readability, handover and the contents of the set. Discuss your preferred size, paper feel and finish. The producer must confirm the exact stock, weight and printing compatibility. A screen image cannot establish the final texture or exact colour.

Let the content and delivery guide the format
Collect your wording first, then decide whether to request one card, a fold or separate inserts. Check long names and bilingual text at the agreed size. Confirm that the whole set fits its envelope or box, not just the main card.
State the preferred shape and dimensions with units. If undecided, describe your priority: a compact format, larger text or several cards. The manager can check the options for your request.
Consider paper and printing together
Describe the feel you prefer: smooth or textured, pale or coloured, firm or flexible. Paper weight alone does not describe every property or establish compatibility with a printing process.
Foil, embossing, die cutting and other finishes are discussion options, not a statement of availability. The producer must confirm stock, weight, application method and restrictions. If a physical sample is available, agree its price and delivery separately.
Record what has been agreed
Include dimensions, printed sides, exact paper and finishing in the order version. A screen visual helps review the layout but cannot guarantee colour or texture. Ask how those properties can be checked before production and what differences to expect.
- Check wording at actual size.
- Confirm paper, printing and finishing compatibility.
- Agree reverse printing, assembly and packaging separately.
- Include the confirmed details in the quote and proof.
Put your stationery brief together
Choose a design idea or send your own artwork. State quantities for each item, printed languages, event location and preferred delivery destination and date. The team will check production options and prepare a quote.
