Choose the relevant guest range or “Not sure yet” in the quiz, then describe your provisional count and serving plans in the preferences. If the chosen design has no stated weight or servings, ask the manager to agree the size instead of converting guests into kilograms yourself.
If you have a provisional guest list
Choose the range that includes your expected number of guests. Explain in the preferences that the list is provisional, and give a narrower estimate if you have one. For example: “We currently expect 10–12 people, but the list is not final.”
The quiz range helps describe your celebration. It does not assign a weight or guarantee a serving count for the design you selected.
If you do not have an estimate yet
Choose “Not sure yet” and continue the enquiry. Explain that you need help with the size and that the guest count is not settled. In the standard form with a numeric field, do not invent a number just to fill it in; explain the situation in the preferences.
- Select a known range or “Not sure yet” in the quiz.
- Describe what is known about the guest count and what may change.
- Explain the serving plan: a shared cake to cut, and whether other desserts will be served.
- Ask the manager to suggest a size after discussing those details.
Guests, servings and sets are different details
Say whether the cake will be the only dessert, whether it will be served as a shared cake and what other treats you are considering. This provides context for a size discussion; it is not a weight formula.
The name “6-cupcake set” describes the number of items. It does not by itself determine your party’s guest count or portion size. If you are considering a set alongside a cake, mention both and ask to agree the contents of the offer.
What to clarify before confirming the order
If a design has no stated weight or servings, ask for those details for the agreed specification. If your list changes, tell the manager and check whether the size and quote need reviewing. Do not assume a change to your request has been accepted automatically.
A message you can adapt: “We currently expect 10–12 guests. We would like a shared cake, and there will be other desserts. We like the linked design; please help us choose the size and tell us what guest details you need for a final offer.”
